The Village:
A Mother’s Matrescence Circle
❋
Tuesday mornings in November at our Jackson’s Point Location
A Invitation To Put Down The Weight Of Motherhood For A While
What to Expect:
Together, we will explore topics such as:
Matrescence: Understanding the profound identity, emotional, relational, and psychological changes that accompany motherhood.
The maternal brain: Learning about the ways pregnancy, birth, caregiving, and motherhood can influence the brain and our emotional experiences.
The window of tolerance: Understanding our nervous system, recognizing when we become overwhelmed or shut down, and developing greater capacity for emotional regulation.
Attachment: Exploring attachment styles, relational patterns, and how our own histories can shape the way we experience ourselves and our relationships.
Identity and selfhood: Making room for the parts of you that existed before motherhood, the parts that are emerging now, and the tension between them.
Relationships and connection: Exploring how motherhood can change our partnerships, friendships, family relationships, and relationship with ourselves.
Emotional well-being: Developing insight into the thoughts, feelings, patterns, and experiences that can make motherhood feel particularly challenging.
Motherhood changes us.
It can be beautiful, messy, overwhelming, deeply meaningful, and sometimes surprisingly lonely. The transition into motherhood, known as matrescence, is a profound psychological, emotional, relational, and even neurological transformation. Yet so often, mothers are expected to simply adapt and carry on.
The Village is a therapeutic group for mothers who want a place to slow down, feel understood, and make sense of the many changes that come with becoming and being a mother.
We gather in a warm, relational space where you can come exactly as you are. Through conversation, reflection, psychoeducation, and therapeutic exploration, we will make space for the experiences that can be difficult to name and even harder to carry alone.
There will be education, but there will also be space to wonder, reflect, laugh, cry, listen, and be witnessed.
Arrive as you are, a mother navigating the very real psychological and emotional experience of motherhood.
A Different Kind of Therapeutic Space
My approach is relational, warm, and human. I believe meaningful therapeutic work happens not only through clinical techniques, but through feeling safe enough to be honest, understood enough to feel less alone, and supported enough to look at ourselves with curiosity rather than judgment.
The Village offers the benefits of group psychotherapy within a community of women who are walking through many of the same transitions.
Come for the conversation. Stay for the connection. It is my hope that you will leave with a deeper understanding of yourself and the experience of becoming a mother.
This is your Village… a place to be seen, heard, and connected with other Mamas.
You Don’t Have to Do It Alone
Motherhood can feel isolating. This is a place to find encouragement, feel understood, and build genuine relationships with like-minded mothers.
